Jerry,

I bought a 2000 F-250 with 7.3 and am replacing the fuel filter. I'm having a problem removing the old filter from the housing. It spins freely, but just can't get the dang thing out and don't want to do anything stupid to damage the housing.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Jerry

Great site. Reading other remarks helps. Right now my 97 F-250 7.3 won't start. It quit on the road with out any notice. My OBD-2 won't connect. Ive checked all fuses, and the 9 & 22 with an ohm/voltmeter. This is like my 73 Bronco that sometimes would just refuse to start. After several r&r's it was a fusible link to the distributor. This 97 has many F/L's. Did you ever have a similiar problem?

My 15 y.o. son and I did ball joints on both sides of my F350 4x4 last weekend. Thanks so much, for the write up! You helped us avoid many pitfalls. I purchased parts through Amazon, so hopefully it got back to you.

Thanks for a superb sight! My daughter, who returning from 2 years in the Peace Corps, wanted a diesel truck so someday she can convert to a waste vegetable oil burner. The only thing we could find in her price range was a 2wd F350, full towing/camper package, with 286000 on it. Rides like a truck, ha :D Passenger door and slight tailgate rust just starting. I have been using it this winter in Michigan and it runs well enough for her basic transportation needs. Repairs will come up so now she needs to learn how to fix it and your sight will be invaluable.
Thanks for taking the time to put up the picts and articles!

What ball joint press did you use in your write up? I need to replace my ball joints but in doing research a lot of the presses I have found seam to be of less quality. Thanks Joe

Admin reply: .
Sorry about my delayed response, jbl3145. I am not sure what press I used. I actually rented/borrowed it at Checker Auto Parts.

Jerry
